The one day of the year when it is acceptable to discharge fireworks and openly show a fascination with all things pyrotechnical is July 4th, National Explosives Day. This day of national deflagration and detonation comes only once per year outside of Disney themeparks. For our pious environmentalist friends, there is even a green fire available for a more righteous, earthy, celebration.

You should tell us how to make home-made fire-works. That’s useful chemical stuff. It’s legal in many states.
Pour hydrazine into a 316 stainless steel tray.
Something we usually forget about fireworks is how toxic their components are; I wonder how much the impact of, say a big July 4th celebration can be. See: “Green” Pyrotechnics: A Chemists´ Challenge. Angewandte Chemie International Edition. doi: 10.1002/anie.200704510
