I have a dream. I dream of a time when election crazed talking heads find some new metaphores. I dream of a time when networks lengthen the news sampling interval from 5 minutes to something greater. I dream of a time when microanalysis of the faintest political nuance is recognized for what it is- gossip. I dream of a time when broadcast news people understand the concept of signal to noise ratio.
Finally, I dream of a time when people focus on the core of MLK’s dream- nonviolence- rather than the attention deficit parroting of the 4 words for the sake of loftiness.

Lengthen the human lifespan to 300 years of good health. People might actually realize they have much more to lose.
Add longevity = instant human being.
How can one truly understand the concept of signal to noise when the number is far less than 1?
It’s much easier to coopt the phrasing than to actually implement it – it’s kind of like eating candy to prevent starvation, it eases the pangs and doesn’t require anything substantive (but doesn’t solve anything). Everybody wins. Besides, if we had to deal with real issues and elect people on their basis, God (or FSM, etc.) only knows what would happen.
