The House GOP. Hear Them Squeal!

Poor GOP. The party of values, Tom DeLay, and Karl Rove. Now that they are the loyal opposition, they seem to have forgotten their time in the sun. Remember the good old days when Majority Leader Tom “The Exterminator” Delay ran roughshod over house Dems? The tide has turned and today they are whining vociferously about the lack of input into legislation.  Should they be surprised at like treatment? Actually, they are not getting like treatment. Boehner and party have been asked to participate in problem solving and, naturally, they have reverted to their rabid, atavistic reflex for eating the liver of any democrat within reach.

There are no Democraps or Republicants. There is the Party, with everybody feeding at the same trough.

    Federal borrowing through December 2007

Same chart to scale, through December 2008

Treating the symptoms by exacerbating the cause is short term desperation and long term insanity. Better that one guilty man be rewarded than 1000 innocent men be set free. That’s Homeland Severity, Gulag Edition.

While I’m plenty irked that they think that I’m stupid enough and have a short enough memory to fall for this, I’m even more upset that so many people DO fall for this.

Yes, this time it’s the GOP, but soon the Dem’s will be doing it again. They are politicians, after all.

The Republican Party has been advocating and using the same solutions for thirty years, and all they’ve shown themselves capable of is spending the government into bankruptcy. Oh, and they can ignore facts with the best of them, and sell their integrity for a bag of chips. Cow chips.

An opposition is a useful thing to temper the Democrats’ excesses, but the ‘pubs just aren’t it. In order to be a credible opposition, you have to have credibility – since they can’t either open their mouths without lying or tell the difference between fact and fiction, they don’t have that. Having principles (ones you’ve actually applied) and, for economics, a passing acquaintance with math would help – the ‘pubs have shown themselves not to have any of those. Oh, and when Rush Limbaugh is likely to have significant input into your party’s future, you should be officially certified as clinically nuts (sorry about the insult to the mentally ill). The only idea that would be worse is if the RP sponsored Limbaugh’s love (hate?) child with Ann Coulter – that would put a damper on genetic experimentation for awhile.

The only loyal opposition may be the rest of the world – other countries are worried about the effects of our spending on available credit and on inflation, and they may provide a counterbalance to spending, forcing the DP to reveal how much taxes it will take to pay off the debts run up previously and being run up now and the infrastructure they intend to build. I can hear the “class warfare” cries from Glenn Beck’s underground bunker now (funny, you guys only hate class warfare when it’s from rich to poor – taking the money of the poor and middle classes for yourselves doesn’t seem to bother you much. Imagine that.)
