The latest rev of Windows 7 and MS office is driving me freaking nuts. Used to be that I could do a graph in Excel and copy it cleanly into Word. That convenience seems to be absent in the latest rev. What fails to copy are the arrows and text boxes that I add to the graph. Not only do some of them fail to transfer, but the graph reformats and they arrive all cattywompus.
What works is to save the Excel document as a pdf and then cut out the graph and paste it into Word. Fancy that.
So, Microsoft, if I could make the dollars I pay for software change form inside your bank account, say, from dollars into Congolese francs, I’d do it this moment.

That’s bull. Why are you wasting time with word and excel instead of messing about on wordpress?
Well, that’s a good question, isn’t it?
“Cattywompus” is a fantastic word. I think I’ll start using it in everyday conversation.
I see I’ll have to release more of this kind of vocabulary in the future.
When dealing with this BS at work, I get good results by pasting as an “enhanced windows metafile”
Thanks for the tip. I’ll monkey with it and see what happens.
Rinky’s comment is seconded.* That format takes a little getting used too, at least if its a technical document. You’ll see. If you just want the graphic, why not just use “snipping tool”? I find it works pretty well. Plus, after doing it hundreds of times in the same document, the .docx doesn’t get all “jittery” and crap out.
*The greatness of “Cattywompus” is also seconded.
Thanks for taking the time to leave the comment. I’ll mess with the snipping tool rather than the sniping tool.
I’m just elated that Excel finally allows me to have a logarithmic axis that doesn’t start as an integral power of 10.
I guess a rheologist would make much use of the log scale.
I had commented in an earler post that the latest rev of MS office was “all new learning curve and no new features”. That’s a slight exaggeration I suppose.
